Brief Brand History for

Born in Bern, Switzerland in 1959, Pierre Kunz is a veteran of the Swiss watchmaking industry. Having studied at the Vallée de Joux watchmaking school, Kunz constructed grand complications for years in the workshops of Victorin Piguet. He went on to create more grand complications for some of Switzerland's most prestigious watchmakers. In 1998, Franck Muller asked Kunz to create watches under his own name at the famous Watchland Park. Watchland hosts master artisans, specialists, and numerous watchmakers. Although part of the Franck Muller Group, watches made under the Pierre Kunz name are still available.

Product Line Overview

Pierre Kunz watches have a distinctive, classical look. Traditional design elements remain consistent across timepieces. These elements include fluted casebands, Roman numerals, and sword hands. Perhaps the biggest draw for potential buyers is the impressive complexity achieved in the watch movements. Often, calibers incorporate retrograde movement. Typically, watch hands move circularly. In a retrograde complication, a watch hand snaps back to its initial position. The Spirit of Challenge Moonphase features both retrograde date and chronograph indications. Other complications include a perpetual calendar, tourbillon, and retrograde seconds.
