Description

This rare Rolex Cosmograph Daytona ref. 6263 features a stunning panda dial and remarkable provenance. The Daytona counts itself among the most iconic and desirable timepieces in the history of Swiss watchmaking. While high demand exists for modern examples, vintage references from the '60s and '70s are even more coveted due to their beauty and rarity. Those with extensive documentation are rarer still. This example is accompanied by the purchase receipt from the original jeweler and papers from Rolex. The first owner purchased the watch in 1974 from Crisson Jewellers in Hamilton, Bermuda, an establishment founded in 1922 that still retails the Rolex brand. Several receipts from services by Rolex are also included. It is uncommon for a watch of this age and rarity to boast this amount of documentation. The ref. 6263 was available with various dial options, including the panda "sigma dial" configuration seen in the example above. The Greek letter sigma flanking the "T SWISS T" signature at six o'clock indicates that the hands and indexes are made of solid gold. These Daytona references are also notable for their improved waterproofness thanks to the adoption of screw-down pushers. With its rarity, comprehensive records, and striking visual appeal, the ref. 6263 offers a unique opportunity for any discerning collector.
