Brief Brand History for

Richard Mille began as a venture between Dominique Guenat, owner of Guenat SA, and Richard Mille, a formal general manager at the French jeweler Mauboussin. After two years of development, the Richard Mille brand was founded in 2001. Its first watch, the RM 001 Tourbillon, solidified the brand's design ideals. It not only featured the iconic, ribbed, tonneau-shaped case, but also utilized skeletonization to highlight the movement's complexity. In 2013, Richard Mille acquired the majority of case and prototype maker Prototypes Artisanals SA. The company remains independent, though it has collaborated with watchmaker and company shareholder Audemars Piguet. Richard Mille's impressive movement development, collaborations with athletes and celebrities, and limited production make its watches some of the most sought after in the world of high horology.
