Patek Philippe Annual Calendar
The Patek Philippe Advanced Research 5250 is the first of the model produced in a limited edition of 100 pieces in 2005. This is the first model produced by Patek Philippe with a revoulutionary silicium escape wheel. Silicium is twice as hard as steel, light, smooth, and anti- magnetic. This eliminates the need to lubricate the silicium escape wheel. Complications include a power reserve and moonphase. It is also an annual calendar timepiece that recognizes 30-day months and does not need to be manually adjusted during those periods. Patek Philippe has produced newer improved versions of the Advanced Research, but the 5250G remains the holy grail for watch enthusiasts. With only 100 pieces of the Patek 5250 in existence, it is currently valued at over $100,000.
