This IWC Pilot's Watch Antoine de Saint Exupery Edition is a tribute to the famous French author and pilot. IWC made 4 editions as they pay homage to the life of Saint-Ex, one edition per year starting 2006. All have tobacco brown dials with the "A" signature of Saint-Ex and brown leather straps. The main differences lay in the complications presented on the dial and the engravings at the back case representing a specific feature of Saint-Ex's life. This edition is the second which takes the Saint-Ex novel 'Courrier Sud' (Southern Mail), published in 1929, as its theme. Thus, there are 1929 watches of this edition produced, 1178 in stainless steel, 500 in rose gold, 250 in white gold, and 1 piece in platinum which was auctioned for charity purposes.

This edition features a 44mm rose gold case with automatic movement. The peculiarity of this specific edition is the 44-hour power reserve display between the 6 and 8 o'clock position, the date display at the 3 o'clock position resembling an aircraft's altimeter display, and the "A" insignia beside the date display. The relief engraving at the back shows the outline of the geographic range of operations in de Saint Exupery's age. It is secured to the wrist by a brown buffalo leather strap with a tang buckle.
