As can be expected from a timepiece that commemorates one of the most famous single-seat fighter plane favored by the Royal Air Force during the height of the Second World War, the IWC Mark XV Spitfire collection features a soft iron inner case for protection against magnetic fields. Built from stainless steel with a screw-down crown, the 38mm timepiece is tested water resistant up to a depth of 6 ATM. Legibility of course is top-notched. The dial of the IWC Mark XV Spitfire utilizes luminous Arabic Numerals and hands surrounded by an outer minute/seconds track and covered by a domed, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. An automatic movement with a 42h power reserve breathes life to the hours, minutes, seconds, and date functions. Produced in 2001 in a limited edition of only 1000 pieces, the IWC Mark XV Spitfire is widely considered one of the grail pilot watches.
